Message From Pastor Bob Huisman

The Beatitudes: Formation as Resistance
On the fourth Sunday of the season of Lent, we continue to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter.  This Sunday, third year Western seminary student, Josiah Huisman (son of Pastor Bob and Lisa), will open God’s word with us from Matthew 5 and share message entitled, “Formation as Resistance”.  Our Sunday School students will lead us in music ministry.

This Sunday is the fourth Sunday of the season of Lent which helps us prepare to remember the sufferings of Jesus on the cross and the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.  Our church-wide Bible Engagement continues this Sunday with the Gospel of John – see the bulletin insert which is also available online.

Finally, consider this challenge during the season of Lent to fast from your phone or from social media for one 24-hour period per week for the next six weeks.  You might consider turning off your phone or fasting from social media from Saturday at 6:00 PM to Sunday at 6:00 PM or any 24-hour period of your choosing.  Use this “space” to listen to God, turn your heart to Him, and obey the Holy Spirit’s promptings to share God’s love with those around you.

Reminder: Bring a non-perishable food item for the food distribution ministry with our friends and neighbors at Byron Village.  Place it on the table in the Fellowship Room.

5:00 PM – Sunday Evening Worship

Romans Recap
Our study of Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans concluded last week with chapter 16.  This Sunday we will recap a key verse from each chapter and view an overview with the help of a video from the Bible Project.  A small Romans Review Gift will be availabe.

Thank You for your Gifts, Tithes, and Offerings
Thank you for your generosity to Christ’s Church.  We encourage you to prioritize your local church in your giving because the local church is the bride of Christ, and Jesus is the hope of the world.  We excel in the grace of giving when we honor God with our time, our treasures, and our talents.

Pastor Bob Huisman
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Colossians 3:12-14
