Message From Pastor Bob Huisman

9:30 AM Sunday Morning Worship
Love Unswerving
On the fourth Sunday of the season of Lent, we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice drawn from the songs and hymns of Easter.  This Sunday we will reflect on Luke 22-23  along with the words of the song, “Ah Holy Jesus, How Have You Offended?”.   What would you say to Jesus if you saw him on the road to the cross?

You are encouraged to join one of the leaders of New City Kids GR at 11:00 in the Connections Room, next to the fellowship room kitchen, to hear how God is transforming the lives of students and young adults in downtown Grand Rapids.  There will be a brief ministry update during the worship service.

This Sunday is the third Sunday of the season of Lent which helps us prepare to remember the sufferings of Jesus on the cross and the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.  Our church-wide Bible Engagement continues this Sunday with the Gospel of John – see the bulletin insert which is also available online.

Finally, consider this challenge during the season of Lent to fast from your phone or from social media for one 24-hour period per week for the next six weeks.  You might consider turning off your phone or fasting from social media from Saturday at 6:00 PM to Sunday at 6:00 PM or any 24-hour period of your choosing.  Use this “space” to listen to God, turn your heart to Him, and obey the Holy Spirit’s promptings to share God’s love with those around you.

Reminder: Bring a non-perishable food item for the food distribution ministry with our friends and neighbors at Byron Village.  Place it on the table in the Fellowship Room.

5:00 PM – Sunday Evening Worship

Holy Hugs
Our study of Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans comes to the final chapter – chapter 16.  Here we will see the Apostle Paul send greetings to many individuals, give a final warning about not causing divisions in the church, and an assurance that the God of peace will soon crush Satan!  We will conclude our time of worship with a celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

.
Thank You for your Gifts, Tithes, and Offerings
Thank you for your generosity to Christ’s Church.  We encourage you to prioritize your local church in your giving because the local church is the bride of Christ, and Jesus is the hope of the world.  We excel in the grace of giving when we honor God with our time, our treasures, and our talents.

Pastor Bob Huisman
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Colossians 3:12-14
