Our E100 series (Essential 100 stories of the Bible) continues on Sunday morning with Paul’s Letters to leaders in the New Testament Church.  We will focus on 2 Timothy chapter 2 and the last recorded words of the Apostle Paul.  Professor Jim DeBoer from Hope College will give an update on Awakening – a summer conference for high school students seeking to use their gifts in leading God’s people in worship.  Beckie Hartgerink will share plans for Heritage’s first ever summer Art Camp.
At 5:00, we continue our 3-part series on Relationships – Love.Honor.Cherish.  We will focus on the theme of Cherish and our service will conclude with a Celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

ASH WEDNESDAY, March 6
The Christian season of Lent begins on Wednesday, March 6.  In this season, we are called to focus on confession and repentance and the suffering of our Savior.  In the weeks leading up to Easter, we will focus on the “I AM” statements of Jesus – “I AM the bread of life”, ” I AM the light of the world”…
To begin the season of Lent, we are hosting a brief Ash Wednesday service from 6:30-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6 including the opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes (the sign of the cross made with a mixture of ashes from last years Palm Sunday palms and oil) on the forehead or back of the hand.  Ashes are a reminder of our mortality and sin and the sign of the cross is a symbol of God’s forgiveness and salvation.  While an Ash Wednesday service is not new to Christ’s church, it is new to Heritage and also to Pastor Bob Huisman.  We will host a service this year and evaluate whether we should do it again in the future.
