Learning To Be Content

SERMON OUTLINE:

Philippians 1:12-26

“I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want”.                                                                                Phil. 4:12

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, I WILL BE CONTENT WHEN I…..

  1. ….. Look at things from God’s stand point rather than a human        stand point.

    “Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.”  Phil.  1:12  

  1. …. Don’t let others control my attitude.

    “It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.  The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice”.                                                                                                                  Phil. 1:15-18         

 …..Trust in the resources God provides me to be delivered from       despair.

“For I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance”.                                                                        Phil 1:19

  1. ….. Stay focused on the purpose and not on the problem.

It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage, now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death!”       Phil. 1:20
