Say “Yes” to God

Philippians 2:13

“For God is working in you,
giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”

Do you ever wonder if you’re missing an opportunity that God has placed in your life?  Do you feel like there’s been a tug on your heart or mind that you haven’t been heeding?  Maybe you feel unqualified, or you think you’re too busy, or you don’t have the finances you need. Or maybe you’re avoiding it because of the fear of the unknown.

Sometimes we hear God calling us to do something, but we don’t take action because we want to be able to see what’s at the finish line before we start.  However, that’s not how it works.  We can be certain that God will be with us through the journey, but we can’t be certain where the journey will take us.

Think about Abraham.

In Genesis 12, God told Abraham: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.”

Abraham was 75 years old at the time, and God was telling him to take his family and all his possessions and leave for a brand new land, and because Abraham obeyed, he ended up in a place of even greater blessing!

Don’t wait until God removes all the fears or obstacles in your life before you pursue the opportunities He’s placed in front of you.  In fact, sometimes obstacles and roadblocks are there to teach us to lean on God’s strength and power as we pursue His will for our lives.  After all, why would God put an opportunity in front of us that doesn’t require anything of us?  If that were the case, there would be no need to trust God or to exercise our faith.

If God is calling you to do something, just say “yes”.  Step out in faith.
Place your feet on the path of obedience, and leave the rest to Him.  Just because you said “yes” doesn’t mean He’s going to leave you to carry out every detail alone.  Say “yes” and then watch how He opens and closes doors to guide you.  Watch as He brings other people to walk alongside you to fulfill the calling He’s given you.

Opportunities from God are gifts wrapped in uncertainty. They are often lined up with a passion God has placed in your heart.  The unknown can be scary, but throughout the journey, you will be able to prove God’s sufficiency over and over again. Offer Him a willing heart and an enduring spirit, and watch what God accomplishes through you!
